Room on the broom - なぜ幼稚園児の英語の絵本が読めないのか - picture book challenge
TOEICは900点超え、英国ロンドンで10年のビジネス経験があっても、3歳の息子に読み聞かせるための絵本の英語が理解できない。
英語の絵本は単語が豊富。その背景には、ライム（Ryme）がある。良いライムがあるかどうかは、本の評価のひとつ。あの本はとても良いライミングがあるよ、という評価の表現を聞く。韻律を用いるために、聞きなれない単語や表現がたくさん出てくる。駄洒落のようなことから、耳あたりが良く思わず何度も呟いてしまうようなフレーズも。日常の子供との会話の中にもそうしたライムが使われる。父親が娘にsee you later, aligature!と話しかけるように。そうして子供は言葉や表現を覚える。
分からなかった単語や表現をメモしておきます。

boundは、飛び跳ねる。

tapは、軽くたたく。whooshは、シュッと音を立てて高速で動く。
The dog wagged his tail and the stormy wind blew.
wagは、振る。しきりに動かす。
